Last Tuesday, the 25th of April, the yearly Offer Holder Day at UCG took place. On this day, prospective students that got offered a place at UCG, got to visit Groningen and experience a full day of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
After a welcoming talk of dean Hans van Ees, the day kicked off with a round of speed dating with UCG staff and students in order to get acquainted with one another. Speed dating was followed by a taste of UCG project work. UCG tutors Tjeerd Andringa and Ferdinand Lewis showed the possibilities of working on a vast variety of projects that require integrating knowledge from different disciplines. Then it was time for a little fun, Caerus’s very own introduction committee, who is working hard to organize the introduction week in August, organized a scavenger hunt in order to get to know the city of Groningen. The hunt led around Groningen’s most recognizable places, and the individual groups had to make pictures at every place. One group was even lucky enough to spot a real Dutch celebrity, Tim Hofman! All groups ended at the Frascati student housing, where they got to check out their potential future living arrangements for the following year. Once back at UCG, dinner was served: vegetarian pasta followed by ice cream! With their stomachs full, the day was ended by a lecture organized by a UCG student. The lecture was about neuromarketing and branding trust, how do we make decisions in our consumer behavior, and how do we experience brands. All in all, the day had a full program, but was a great success. We really hope to call all these offer holders UCG students soon!
